In general, mouthwashes are best to use to ‘flush out’ the loose plaque and to make your mouth feel ‘fresher’. There are some antimicrobial mouthwashes that your doctor may recommend. Mouthwashes should not be used as your ‘only’ method of oral hygiene. They will not keep your mouth clean enough. You can also use a ‘warm salt water’ rinse to keep the mouth clean. Some people use hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash. I do not always suggest that. If you do, make sure that it is diluted around 50%. Please remember that mouth rinses are supposed to be spit out, not swallowed!
